Madison Bumgarner hammered for six runs vs. A's
by R.J. White | CBSSports.com

Giants pitcher Madison Bumgarner took a loss Tuesday after giving up six earned runs on 10 hits and three walks in seven-plus innings and striking out three in his team's 6-1 defeat against the A's.

Bumgarner (9-7) has lost three straight starts and hasn't pitched all that well in any of them. He allowed four runs on five hits and a walk in the third inning to fall behind 4-0 then gave up a walk and a double in the eighth to leave the game down 5-1, with the runner left on base eventually coming around to score. Bumgarner still owns a 3.36 ERA and 123:32 K:BB ratio in 120 2/3 innings after his rough stretch. He's scheduled to take on the Diamondbacks Sunday.

Madison Bumgarner impressive as he earns ninth win
by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com

Giants starting pitcher Madison Bumgarner allowed one unearned run in eight-plus innings Sunday, leading San Francisco to a 4-1 win at Arizona. The left-handed hurler allowed two hits and two walks, while striking out seven.

Bumgarner (9-4) was dominant for most of the afternoon. He allowed a Cody Ross infield single in the second inning, a Paul Goldschmidt walk in the fourth inning and another Goldschmidt walk in the seventh before having some issues in the ninth inning.

Jordan Pacecho reached on an error to lead off the ninth inning and Ender Inciarte immediately followed with a single, which chased Bumgarner from the game. Sergio Romo was greeted by a Martin Prado RBI single, but he was able to finish off the win by getting Goldschmidt to ground into a double play and retiring Aaron Hill on a strikeout.

Bumgarner won for the first time in three starts Sunday. He is slated to be back on the hill Friday against the Reds.
