Giants' Madison Bumgarner: Tosses up three homers versus Padres on Saturday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Bumgarner allowed five runs on four hits, including three homers in a no-decision over the Padres on Saturday. He also struck out five and walked one.

It was the first time all season Bumgarner yielded three homers in one outing. The Giants ace has now tossed up 26 home runs this season. San Francisco is 2-2 in Bumgarner's last four starts, and he hasn't won a game since Sept. 3. He is 14-9 with a 2.71 ERA, 1.02 WHIP and 246 strikeouts in 219.1 innings this season. His final regular season start will be Friday against the Dodgers.

Giants' Madison Bumgarner: Strikes out 10 in no-decision against Dodgers
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Bumgarner threw seven shutout innings and allowed just one hit with 10 strikeouts but was left with a no-decision Monday against the Dodgers.

Bumgarner must be furious at the lack of support from his teammates, as he did everything he could to give the Giants a chance to win Monday night. This marks the sixth time he has reached double-digit strikeouts this year. Monday's performance brings him to 241 strikeouts for the season, enough for a career high and a brilliant 10.2 K/9.

Giants' Madison Bumgarner: Tosses up a pair of homers in no-decision versus Arizona
by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com

Bumgarner allowed four runs on six hits, struck out nine and walked one over six innings in a no-decision versus the Diamondbacks on Friday.

He yielded just over a baserunner per frame, but a pair of two-run homers prevented Bumgarner from throwing his third straight quality start. This was the fourth time since Aug. 2 that the left-hander has allowed at least four runs in a game. Overall, he is 14-8 with a 2.61 ERA, 1.04 WHIP and 226 strikeouts in 199.2 innings. His next start will be Wednesday against San Diego.

Giants' Madison Bumgarner: Mows down 10 in Saturday victory
by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com

Bumgarner (14-8) was in vintage form in Saturday's 3-2 victory over Cubs, recording 10 strikeouts while allowing two earned runs on five hits over six innings.

He's undeniably had some hiccups this season, but Saturday was a performance befitting the caliber of pitcher that Bumgarner is. He recorded 14 swinging strikes and fired first-pitch strikes to 19 of the 25 batters he faced. The only runs he gave up were rather innocuous, coming on a Jake Arrieta infield single and Javier Baez foul sacrifice fly. It was the southpaw's first double-digit strikeout performance since July 10 versus the D-backs, as well as his second straight quality start. He'll look to keep it going when he faces Arizona on Friday night.

Giants' Madison Bumgarner: Beats Atlanta with quality start Sunday
by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com

Bumgarner allowed three runs with five strikeouts and two walks across seven innings Sunday versus Atlanta, earning his 13th win of the season.

Bumgarner cruised after allowing a sacrifice fly in the first inning, but a two-run homer by Freddie Freeman in the sixth compromised his overall stat line a bit. On a positive note, the left-hander surpassed five innings pitched after lasting just five frames in each of his last two outings, and his ERA sits at an impressive 2.49 for the season. Bumgarner is firmly in the National League Cy Young race, along with fellow frontrunners Max Scherzer and Jose Fernandez; although he ranks third among the trio in strikeouts, he leads in ERA and innings pitched. The ace lefty will look to further his case Saturday against the Cubs.
