Stephen Strasburg remains dominant in no-decision
by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com

Nationals pitcher Stephen Strasburg remained dominant on Monday against the Orioles, but was unable to settle for a no-decision. The right-hander permitted two runs on four hits and no walks while striking out nine over seven innings of work.

Over his last two starts covering 14 2/3 innings, Strasburg has allowed only three earned runs. He owns a 3.47 ERA and a 1.21 WHIP over 19 starts (119 1/3 innings). He will make his next start Saturday at Philadelphia.

Stephen Strasburg strikes out eight in win Tuesday
by R.J. White | CBSSports.com

Nationals pitcher Stephen Strasburg cruised to a win Tuesday, giving up just one earned run on five hits and one walk in 7 2/3 innings while striking out eight in his team's 7-1 victory over the Rockies.

Strasburg (7-6) was excellent through seven innings before serving up a solo home run in the eighth and also walking the last batter he faced. He delivered an impressive rebound performance after surrendering seven runs in his previous start. Strasburg owns a 3.53 ERA and 131:24 K:BB ratio in 112 1/3 innings. He's slated to face the Orioles Monday.

Sit tight with Stephen Strasburg
by Scott White | Senior Fantasy Writer

After a disastrous outing Wednesday at Milwaukee, Stephen Strasburg now has a 3.70 ERA and 1.28 WHIP, making him not quite the ace his NL-leading 10.6 strikeouts per nine innings would have you believe. But his comments after the game may shed some light on the disappointing numbers:

"I'm not right mechanically right now, and I think it's causing [hitters] to see the ball a lot better," he told The Washington Post. "Happens to everybody. I'm going to keep working hard, and it's going to turn."

So ... does that mean, like, tipping pitches? What is it you're saying, Stephen?

"Still trying to figure that out. Just doesn't feel the same. Doesn't look the same."

Whatever is going on with Strasburg, it's not just in his head. Pitching coach Steve McCatty can tell something is off as well.

"It"s hard to say," McCatty said. "Rushing a little bit, a little bit of collapsing on the back leg and a little lateral. Some of them looked like that. Something we'll work on."

OK, that sounds less like tipping pitches, but it's a problem nonetheless. I remember "collapsing the back leg" was something John Farrell helped Jon Lester correct in his return to the Red Sox last year.

My thinking is that if Strasburg is this good with a mechanical flaw -- and again, his strikeout rate speaks for itself -- just imagine how good he'll be when he and McCatty correct it. Now that they've detected it, it's only a matter of time.

You wouldn't want to sell him short in Fantasy.

Stephen Strasburg clobbered by skeleton Brewers lineup
by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com

Nationals ace Stephen Strasburg had hurled nothing but quality starts since April 15 heading into his last outing. But he had one Friday and added his worst performance of the season Wednesday.

Strasburg was mashed in Milwaukee despite the absence of three top hitters, giving up a grand slam to Scooter Gennett in the second inning and going downhill from there. He yielded a second blast to Khris Davis and finished giving up seven earned runs on eight hits in 4 2/3 innings. He managed a season-low two strikeouts as his ERA was raised to 3.70, its highest point in two months.

He will attempt to bounce back Tuesday against Colorado.

Late rally gets Stephen Strasburg off hook
by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com

Nationals starter Stephen Strasburg had to be bailed out by a late rally Friday, as he settled for a no-decision in a 6-4 extra-innings loss.

Strasburg was in line for the loss, after giving up four runs in six innings of work. He allowed nine hits and no walks, while striking out eight batters in six innings. He earned a no-decision when the offense rallied to score two runs off Braves All-Star closer Craig Kimbrel to send it to extras.

Strasburg remains 6-5 on the season with the no-decision, while his ERA rose to 3.24. He will look for win No. 7 in his next trip to the mound, set for Wednesday in Milwaukee.
