23 Michael Taylor, RF

Following the team's 6-5 extra-innings loss to the Rangers, the Athletics optioned outfielder Michael Taylor to Triple-A Sacramento. 

Taylor was just 1 for 23 in nine games before being sent down. Coco Crisp is expected to be activated from the disabled list to take Taylor's place, though an official announcement has not been made. 

With Chris Young and Coco Crisp both inching toward returns, Athletics outfielder Michael Taylor's time in the big leagues could be coming to an end. Taylor, who was recalled from Triple-A Sacramento on May 4, entered Monday's contest against the Rangers with one hit over his last 14 at-bats.

“He just hasn’t had the quality at-bats he’d like to have,” manager Bob Melvin told MLB.com. “We still feel like the ability is there. It just hasn’t translated at this point.

"You look at Chris Carter, and he had a tough time and finally got more of an opportunity to play on a regular basis and figured it out and had a productive year. We’d like to think that’s the same way with Michael, because the ability is there."
