Grant Green hits first big league homer
by Jeff Lippman | CBSSports.com

Angels rookie infielder Grant Green pinch-hit for Erick Aybar in the seventh inning of a runaway game against the Rays and ended up hitting his first major league home run.

Green went the opposite way for his first career long ball. He's batting .250 on the year for the Angels. The 25-year-old needed 92 at-bats to go deep for the first time. He did it in his 29th game.

Grant Green getting the call
by Chris Cwik | CBSSports.com

Angels infielder Grant Green is expected to be called up to replace Howie Kendrick, according to MLB.com.

Green was recently acquired from the Athletics, and will make his Angels debut sooner than expected. Kendrick went for an MRI on his injured knee Tuesday, though there has been no word on whether he'll miss an extended period. Green is hitting .326 in 402 at-bats in the minors.

Is it Grant Green time for the Angels?
by Nando Di Fino | Senior Fantasy Writer

When Howie Kendrick left Monday's game with a hyperextended knee, the Angels shifted Mark Trumbo to third base and had Chris Nelson take over second. Trumbo doesn't have extensive experience at the hot corner -- it was his ninth career appearance at the position -- so this may not be how the team looks heading forward.

A more likely scenario has the Angels calling up deadline-deal acquistion Grant Green , who has played four games at third base, and two at second, since joining the Angels' Triple-A affiliate in Salt Lake City (batting .333 in six games).

While it would be nice for Trumbo owners to see that "3B" attached to his name, Green is a former top prospect capable of hitting for power and average, and wouldn't be playing out of position. In what is essentially a lost season for the Angels -- they're 11 games out of the second wild card spot and starting youngsters like J.B. Shuck and Kole Calhoun semi-regularly -- it would make sense for Green to get the call to replace Kendrick.

Expect Trumbo or Tommy Field to make initial appearances at third while the team figures out if Kendrick needs a DL trip, but if his knee is going to have him out for a while, Green would make for a nice add in deeper leagues.
