Seven different Orioles' players contribute RBI in win
by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com

Everyone in the Orioles starting lineup almost ended up with an RBI during a 7-6 win Monday at Boston. The only two players who didn't contribute an RBI were second baseman Stephen Lombardozzi and outfielder David Lough.

The Orioles got most of their runs during a six-run third inning. Nick Markakis, Nelson Cruz, Chris Davis and Jonathan Schoop all had RBI singles. Adam Jones got an RBI on a fielder's choice and Steve Clevenger had an RBI double.

The Orioles' other run came in the eighth inning on Ryan Flaherty's RBI single. The Orioles hit .303 (10 for 33) and had four walks during the win.

Orioles acquire Steve Lombardozzi from Tigers
by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com

Infielder Stephen Lombardozzi is on the move again. After being part of the Doug Fister trade that sent Lombardozzi from Washington to Detroit in the offseason, Lombardozzi is now on the move to Baltimore after the Orioles acquired him in exchange for veteran infielder Alex Gonzalez.

Lombardozzi, who was batting .231 in 14 spring games, has hit .264 with a .639 OPS in 257 major-league games. He's played at shortstop, second base, third base and left field in his career.

Report: Tigers seeking to make trade for starting shortstop
by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com

The Tigers are talking a good game about the likes of Hernan Perez or Stephen Lombardozzi replacing the injured Jose Iglesias as their starting shortstop, but they have been seeking potential trade partners, several scouts have told ESPN.

One possibility that has reported is Didi Gregorius, who seems on the verge of being beaten out for the staring job by Chris Owings and is reportedly on the trade block. But the Diamondbacks could be looking for a starting pitcher and the Tigers already traded Doug Fister in the offseason and might not be willing to let another one go for Gregorius, who would likely be ousted when Iglesias returns.

Tigers hope Stephen Lombardozzi fills role as backup shortstop
by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com

The Tigers are hoping infielder Stephen Lombardozzi, who was acquired in the Doug Fister trade with the Nationals, proves he's capable of backing up starting shortstop Jose Iglesias.

"We’ll find out," Tigers manager Brad Ausmus said, per the Detroit News. "I just want to see him play short. I think he can make the plays. But I want to see his range. And I’ll consult Omar Vizquel (Tigers infield coach)."

Nationals give up three for Doug Fister
by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com

The Tigers acquired a trio of young players from the Nationals Monday, in exchange for veteran starting pitcher Doug Fister. The Nationals sent infielder Stephen Lombardozzi, reliever Ian Krol and pitching prospect Robbie Ray to Detroit, according to the Washington Post.

Lombardozzi is the only player with more than one season of major-league experience in the deal for the Tigers. He carries a .264/.297/.342 line in 257 games, and hit .259 with just two home runs and 22 RBI in 290 at-bats last season.

Krol appeared in 32 games as a rookie, posting a 3.95 ERA in 27 1/3 innings. He struck out 22 batters and walked just eight in that span.

Ray went 11-5 with a 3.36 ERA between Class A Potomac and Double-A Harrisburg. He was ranked as the National's No. 5 prospect according to Baseball America.
