Phillies bring four aboard on minors deals
The Philadelphia Inquirer reports that the Phillies signed the following players to minor league deals Wednesday: catcher Lou Marson, outfielders Tony Gwynn and Dave Sappelt and pitcher Sean O'Sullivan. Each player received a spring training invite. Marson began his major league career with the Phillies, but has spent the last four-and-a-half seasons with the Indians. Gwynn spent most of 2013 at Triple-A Albuquerque in the Dodgers' system, hitting .300 with 12 steals. Sappelt appeared in 31 games with the Cubs and compiled a .240 batting average. Cubs make roster changes
The Cubs recalled pitchers Justin Grimm, Brooks Raley and catcher J.C. Boscan from Triple-A Iowa prior to Tuesday's game against the Marlins, according to MLB.com. In addition the team also selected pitcher Zach Rosscup from Iowa and designated Dave Sappelt for assignment.Grimm was 2-3 with a 4.68 ERA in eight starts for Iowa. Ian Browne@IanMBrowne10H agoWhat went right for the Red Sox tonight in this 8-0 win over the Guardians? Pretty much everything. Devers with a command performance in his return to action. Criswell with five shutout innings for the depleted rotation. Abreu and Wong (two homers) both had four hits.

Ian Browne@IanMBrowne16H agoAnd on and on it goes. The Red Sox today placed RHP Brayan Bello on the 15-Day Injured List, retroactive to April 21, with right lat tightness. To fill Bello’s spot on the active roster, the club recalled RHP Zack Kelly from Triple-A Worcester.
