| Brown off to slow start in minors: Giants outfield prospect Gary Brown is off to a poor start at Double-A Richmond. Brown, who is considered the Giants' top prospect by Baseball America, is batting .200 with a .324 OBP and .574 OPS in 16 games. | It's not the ideal start for Brown, who was a breakout player in 2011, but it's still early. Brown isn't likely going to develop into a home run hitter, but the 2010 first-round pick is still a great offensive prospect. He has great gap power and uses his lightning speed to leg out extra-base hits. He also uses that speed well stealing bases. He had 53 in 131 games last season. Hopefully, the offense will come around for Brown, who remains a great long-term keeper. He's probably a few years away from making a Fantasy impact. (Updated 04/23/2012). |
