| Lavarnway gets going at Triple-A: Red Sox catcher Ryan Lavarnway is batting .317 (13 for 41) with two homers and five RBI in his last 10 games for Triple-A Pawtucket. | Fantasy Analysis |
| Lavarnway wasn't optioned to the minors because of his offense. The Red Sox chose to carry Kelly Shoppach as the backup catcher over Lavarnway because he was a better defender. Neither Shoppach nor Jarrod Saltalamacchia are lighting it up offensively, but Boston isn't ready to bring Lavarnway back to the majors just yet. Lavarnway will likely be back at some point this season, but he's only worth stashing in deep Fantasy formats. (Updated 04/23/2012). |
