Nash was promoted to Double-A Birmingham on Friday.
The 26-year-old has been white hot since returning to action with High-A Winston-Salem, posting a 1.330 OPS in seven games with the Dash. However, Nash is much older than many of the others playing at that level, so expectations of his performance with the Barons should be tempered.
Nash (suspension) is back in action for High-A Winston-Salem and is 5-for-9 with two homers through his first three games back.
Nash missed the first 50 games of the season serving a suspension for testing positive for an amphetamine. While Nash has put up some solid numbers with High-A Winston-Salem over the past two seasons (.273 with 13 homers through 154 at-bats), he hasn't progressed past the Double-A level and may never do so.
Nash has been suspended 50 games without pay for testing positive for amphetamine, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.
A third-round pick in 2009, Nash spent some time in the independent leagues in recent years after flaming out with the Astros. He was putting together a fine season with the White Sox's High-A Winston-Salem affiliate, slashing .255/.415/.559 with 11 homers and a 40:58 BB:K, but Nash has never advanced past the Double-A level and it's possible he never will.
