  • O. Perez would like to be a Marlin: The South Florida SunSentinel reports that former Nationals SP Odalis Perez wouldn't mind joining the Marlins. "I would love to play here," said Perez, who was released by Washington last month after failing to show up for spring training. "If they want me, they know I have an agent (Scott Boras). They can give my agent a call."

    Fantasy Analysis
Perez was 7-12 with a 4.34 ERA in 30 starts for the Nationals last season. He is 73-82 with a 4.46 ERA is 10 seasons. He wouldn't jump into the Marlins rotation right away by any means, but could be a useful option out of their bullpen or in Triple-A. Ignore him in all Fantasy drafts right now, though.

  • September 28, 2008: NL East champion Phillies rest starters, still beat Nats
Lou Marson and Matt Stairs hit back-to-back homers for Philadelphia and the NL East champion Phillies rested their regulars in an 8-3 win over the Washington Nationals on Sunday.
September 22, 2008: By the Numbers: One last pitch
It appears that National League owners are bolstering their pitching staffs at the last minute in search of a Fantasy title. Our Al Melchior takes a closer look in his By the Numbers.
    September 21, 2008: Week 26 Pitching Planner
Our final Pitching Planner of the year is notoriously the most tenuous as team's reconfigure their rotations for the postseason and/or slot their aces for added starts in the final week. Our Eric Mack does his best to measure the possibilities and potential two-start pitchers.
September 16, 2008: Mets stumble against Nats, fall out of first in NL East
Odalis Perez shut down the slumping Mets into the eighth inning and scored the only run of the game, sending Washington to a 1-0 victory Tuesday night.
September 15, 2008: Loss to Nationals reduces Mets' East lead to half-game
Washington's John Lannan limited New York to one hit over seven innings, Anderson Hernandez delivered a two-run single off a tiring Pedro Martinez, and the Nationals beat the fading-again Mets 7-2 Monday.
