| Chavez activated from 7-day DL: Yankees third baseman Eric Chavez was reinstated from the seven-day disabled list and placed in the starting lineup as the designated hitter for Friday's game against Seattle. Chavez hasn't played since May 2 after dealing with a head injury which occurred after he attempted to make a diving stop in the field. New York optioned Eduardo Nunez to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre in order to clear a spot on the roster for Chavez. (Updated 05/11/2012) |

| Chavez had to be cleared by Major League Baseball before returning to the lineup, which likely delayed his return. But the Yankees were also being cautious with the veteran infielder as the seven-day disabled list is usually reserved for players dealing with concussions.
