| West close to throwing program: MLB.com reports on Monday that Rangers pitcher Matt West will begin a throwing program to rehab the mild sprain in his right elbow next week. West was cut by the Rangers during spring camp and will likely open the season in the minors, when healthy. (Updated 04/09/2012) |

| The Rangers will be cautious with West after he has evolved from a bust while playing third base to a rising prospect as a pitcher. West, who was the team's second-round pick in the 2007 MLB Draft, spent time with Low Class A Spokane and High Class A Myrtle Beach last year. He registered a 3.00 ERA and walked only one batter in 27 innings. Fantasy owners should not consider him a worthwhile option for now. (Updated 04/09/2012). |
