Rays' Justin Williams: Raps out pair of hits Tuesday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Williams went 2-for-2 with a single and double in Tuesday's 7-6 extra-inning Grapefruit League loss to the Yankees.

The 21-year-old outfielder, currently the Rays' No. 11 prospect, hit safely for the first time in four spring games. Williams remains a work in progress but is receiving valuable exposure to big league pitching this spring following a .250/.277/.446 line over 155 plate appearances at Double-A Montgomery to wrap up 2016. Although he's offered modest power thus far, Williams brings above-average speed and has hit well at multiple minor league stops in the Diamondbacks and Rays organizations, boasting a .310/.343/.433 line with 79 doubles, nine triples, 22 homers and 190 RBI in 337 games.

Rays' Justin Williams: Promoted to Double-A
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Williams, 20, is hitting .200 with two home runs in four games since being promoted to Double-A Montgomery.

Williams earned his promotion to the Southern League by slashing .330/.350/.448 with four home runs in 51 games at High-A, and it's nice to see that he wasted no time hitting for power after joining the Biscuits. Few hitting prospects reach Double-A before their 21st birthday, as Williams has, so as long as he can just keep his head above water over the rest of the season, his stock will be trending up heading into 2017.

Rays' Justin Williams: Back in action with High-A squad
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Williams is 6-for-17 (.353) with a run scored in four minor league games since returning from the disabled list with an undisclosed injury.

Williams missed over a month with his setback, but he is back on the field with the Rays' High-A affiliate. He is hitting .327 this season and is one of the Rays' better prospects, so he will have a chance to move up a level at some point this summer.

Rays' Justin Williams: On minor league DL with undisclosed injury
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Justin Williams is on the minor league DL with an undisclosed injury.

He was hitting .313 with zero home runs in eight games for High-A Charlotte prior to the injury, and in terms of upside, he is one of the more intriguing hitters in the Tampa Bay Rays ' system. His status will be updated when the nature of his injury becomes clear, or he returns to action.
