Edwards allowed one run on one hit and three walks in 3 2/3 innings. He struck out six. Edwards has a 1.59 ERA and eight strikeouts in two starts (5 2/3 innings) with the AZL Cubs.
"I'm very, very close right now," Edwards said. "During my last live batting practice session, they put the radar gun on me, and I'm back to 94 mph with a good curveball and good changeup. Things are moving smoothly. I'm taking my time. (Wednesday) might not be my best start, but as long as I'm back on the mound, I'm happy."
Edwards threw long toss from a distance of about 150 feet while also pitching a 30-pitch bullpen session Tuesday. He has been sidelined since April while recovering from a shoulder strain and fatigue. Edwards is expected to resume competing with Double-A Tennessee after two starts in the Arizona League. He's also likely to participate in the Arizona Fall League if he can stay healthy.

The MRI did reveal inflammation in his shoulder, but it was otherwise structurally sound. He'll rest for a couple of weeks before starting a throwing program.
Edwards is scheduled to undergo an MRI to determine the extent of the issue. Edwards came over to the club in the Matt Garza deal, and was considered the team's top pitching prospect in 2014.
