Tim Berry back down to minors
by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com

Southpaw Tim Berry has been optioned back to Double-A Bowie by the Orioles. The move comes as no surprise as he was only brought up Friday to provide bullpen depth. The 23 year old did not get a chance to make his major league debut.

Tim Berry elevated from Bowie to Baltimore
by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com

Left-hander Tim Berry has made the jump from Double-A Bowie to the Orioles, who need help in the bullpen for the weekend series against visiting Oakland.

Berry owns a 3-3 record and 4.12 ERA at that level, but has performed well in three of his last four starts. He will be used in relief by Baltimore.

Tim Berry goes from 50th-round pick to Orioles' top-10 prospect
by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com

Orioles starting pitcher prospect Timothy Berry has enjoyed a surprising rise through the organizational ranks since being a 50th-round selection in the 2009 MLB draft. Berry was added to the 40-man roster in the offseason following a breakout season in 2013, which puts him one step closer to the majors.

The left-handed pitching prospect went 11-7 with a 3.85 ERA and 1.29 WHIP in 27 starts for high Class A Frederick last season, but he really put himself on the map with a strong showing in the prospect-laden Arizona Fall League. Berry went 2-0 with a 1.84 ERA and .212 opponents' batting average in seven appearances (two starts).

Not only did the Orioles reward Berry by placing him on the 40-man roster, but Baseball America took notice as well, ranking him as the team's sixth-best prospect.

"Obviously, I’m glad they view me highly," Berry said. "It’s kind of irrelevant. If I can take care of what I need to take care of and progress how I feel like I’m progressing, it will work out. That’s really what I’m excited about more than anything, that I feel myself progressing, especially in the second half of last year and in the fall league. I feel like I’m taking steps forward."
