    Kubitza was released by the Tigers on Monday, Evan Woodbury of MLive.com reports. Since being named the Tigers' minor-league pitcher of the year in 2014, Kubitza has struggled to maintain that fine form, posting a combined 4.86 ERA across 63 innings between High-A and Double-A last season. He'll look to catch on with another minor-league affiliate.

  • Tigers' Austin Kubitza: Promoted to Double-A Erie

    Kubitza was promoted to Double-A Erie on Wednesday, Tom Reisenweber of the Erie Times-News reports. With Ruben Alaniz moving up to Triple-A Toledo, Kubitza will fill his spot in the Erie bullpen. After a disappointing 2015 campaign with Erie, the 24-year-old has shined in High-A Lakeland this year, allowing only nine runs in 29.1 innings pitched.
