Guzman, Grabow could steal saves: The Cubs stripped beleaguered RP Kevin Gregg of the closer role Tuesday, replacing him with Carlos Marmol. Manager Lou Piniella disclosed the move Tuesday, a day after Gregg blew another save in a 4-1 loss to San Diego. Marmol was chosen to take over the closer role, although Piniella said he also considered left-hander John Grabow and right-hander Angel Guzman. Marmol has more experience in the closer's role than the others, but Piniella said under some circumstances, both Grabow and Guzman could also get opportunities to close games.

Fantasy Analysis

Guzman is already a worthwhile setup man for deeper leagues because of his 2.42 ERA, and now that he has an opportunity for saves, he's even more appealing. We're only talking about a handful, though, so he's still not much of a mixed-league option. Same goes for Grabow, who mostly pitches against left-handers anyway.
