  • Rivera receives some good news: The Dodgers announced on Friday that outfielder Juan Rivera, who was originally expected to be out until the end of June with a ruptured left hamstring, will begin a Triple-A rehab assignment on Sunday, meaning he is close to returning to the big leagues. Rivera has been out since May 7 due to the injury and he was expected to miss close to two months, however Dodgers manager Don Mattingly indicated to MLB.com that he is going on the rehab assignment to get his swing back, as the hamstring seems fine. "It's to get him more baseball, not because of his leg," said Mattingly. He will likely play a few games at Triple-A Albuquerque before spending a few more in Class A Rancho Cucamonga to get his timing down before joining the team.

    Fantasy Analysis
This comes as a surprise, as Rivera was expected to miss much more time than this, and we have not really had much in the way of updates regarding his status. It is obviously good news, of course, as Rivera looks like he should be back soon. He was hitting just .247 in 25 games before being put on the disabled list, however he was better last season, when he hit .274 upon joining the Dodgers, so the team is hoping he can regain that form when healthy. He can be worth using in larger Fantasy formats when healthy, so keep an eye on his status moving forward.
