| Yankees cut Escalona: The New York Post reports that Terrence Long is close to signing a minor-league contract with the Yankees, due to their injury problems in the outfield. There's an opening on the 40-man roster, which Long would be added to, since the team also designated Triple-A infielder Felix Escalona for assignment and put him on waivers. (Updated 05/18/2006) |
