Nationals third baseman Yunel Escobar out of lineup Wednesday
by Brandon Wise | CBSSports.com

Nationals third baseman Yunel Escobar is out of the starting lineup again Wednesday with Danny Espinosa taking over the spot, the team announced.

Escobar suffered a hand injury in Monday's game with cuts on his hand when Andrelton Simmons slid into his glove trying to reach third base. Espinosa, who has played second for the majority of the year, will move to third with Dan Uggla drawing another start at second.

Manager Matt Williams said that Escobar is available in an emergency situation, as he was for Tuesday's game. He expects the infielder will be ready to return to his regular role Thursday, the Washington Post reports.

The Nationals are currently the favorites (-110) against Atlanta.

Dan Uggla adjusting to bench role with Nationals
by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com

After starting the first four games of the season, Nationals second baseman Dan Uggla has started just four times over the last 11 games. Manager Matt Williams said Uggla is adjusting to his role as a bench player.

"It's never easy. Being an everyday player his whole career, it's not easy to learn how to do it," Williams said, per MASNsports.com. "The objective when he walks up there is to be him and not try to be something that he is not. His thought process when he goes up there is (to) get a good one to hit and whack it like he always does.

"He'll be aggressive from the first pitch, like he always hit. It's been the last three games, but it doesn't mean it'll be all the time either. He'll get some starts as well. Last night, we needed to get T-Mo (Tyler Moore) an at-bat, so we got him in there."

Uggla is batting .129 (4 for 31) with one RBI, two doubles, three walks and seven strikeouts.
