They also optioned C Pete Laforest to Portland of the PCL, sent RHP Jason Anderson and 1B Walter Young outright Portland and reassigned RHP Seth Etherton, RHP Jon Adkins, LHP Ryan Meaux, INF Ricky Gutierrez and OF Jack Cust to their minor league camp. | At 6-foot-5, 322 pounds, Young was said to be the biggest player ever in the major leagues -- although we think Cecil Fielder would protest. Young looks like little more than organizational depth at this point in his career. But he could surprise in deeper NL-only leagues in 2006 if he found his way into a significant amount of big-league at-bats. (Updated 03/27/2006). |
