| Pirates throw McLouth overboard: Pittsburgh outfielder Nate McLouth was designated for assignment Friday after producing a lowly .140 batting average during his second stint with the Pirates. | McLouth signed with the Pirates during the offseason to serve as the team's fourth outfielder, but his offensive production remained stale over the first two months of the year. He struck out 18 times in 34 games and his base-stealing ability was marginalized after he struggled to reach base.
