| Bartlett might not have job waiting: According to the North County Times, San Diego shortstop Jason Bartlett may not have a starting job once he returns from the disabled list. Bartlett landded on the shelf with a strained right knee Thursday and replaced by Everth Cabrera. "Jason understands these guys are coming up and there's no guarantee of a job waiting on the other side," Padres general manager Josh Byrnes said. "That's just the way we're set up now." | Byrnes' statement comes on the heels of the team's release of another struggling veteran in Orlando Hudson. Though Bartlett hasn't been cut, San Diego is leaning toward giving Cabrera everyday at-bats. Bartlett is hitting just .133 with only four RBI in 29 games this season, and the team has shown it is not shy of removing players. Fantasy owners should continue seeking other alternatives over Bartlett at this point. (Updated 05/18/2012). |
