Uehara doubtful for Thursday start: Orioles manager Dave Trembley said it was doubtful that starter Koji Uehara will be able to make his start on Thursday against the Detroit Tigers with his current hamstring injury still bothering him, reports MASNsports.com. Should that happen, the Orioles have a multitude of options as to what to do with Thursday's start. They could use someone like Brian Bass or Mark Hendrickson or re-call starter David Hernandez from Triple-A, who would be on regular rest. Troy Patton at Double-A couldn't start again until Friday so he isn't an option. It all depends on whether Uehara needs to go on the DL or will simply be pushed back a few days. For what it is worth, Orioles GM Andy McPhail mentioned the possibility of introducing another new pitcher, as they did Tuesday with Jason Berken, on Thursday. That suggests the choice could be Hernandez.

This situation is as up in the air as it gets right now for Baltimore. It all hinges on the healthy of Uehara, who should be reserved in all Fantasy leagues until he proves healthy again. Stay tuned in AL-only Fantasy leagues because if the Birds give the ball to Hernandez you'll definitely want to consider using them for that start after he struck out 14 batters in his last outing for the Norfolk Tides over seven innings.
