| Santana labors in ND : Angels pitcher Ervin Santana turned in his shortest outing of the season during Friday night's contest against the Mariners. Santana, who was making his 10th start of the year, allowed four runs on four hits over five innings in the 6-4 win. All four runs he surrendered came off the bat of Justin Smoak, including a two-run home run in the fifth inning. He was pulled after throwing 106 pitches and finished with a season-high seven walks and three strikeouts, while earning the no-decision. (Updated 05/26/2012) |

| Fantasy Analysis |
| Santana really labored on Friday night and is somewhat fortunate to walk away with a no-decision. The right-hander really struggled to find the strike zone at times, which forced his pitch count up earlier in the contest. Chalk it up as one of those nights for Santana, who had gone 2-2 with a 1.75 ERA over his previous five starts. He will now look to get himself back on track when he makes his next start, which is scheduled for Wednesday against the Yankees. Santana was roughed up in his lone start against New York earlier this season, allowing five runs over six innings back on April 13. Fantasy owners should consider the 29-year-old a viable option in deeper formats heading into his next outing. (Updated 05/26/2012). |
