Cubs demote seven from spring camp: The Chicago Tribune reported Sunday that the Cubs have trimmed their roster down to 30 players after optioning pitchers Kevin Hart and Randy Wells to Triple-A Iowa and assigning catcher Mark Johnson, infielders Esteban German and Andres Blanco, and outfielders So Taguchi and Brad Snyder to minor league camp.
