| Broadway sent down, Young called up: According to MLB.com, the Nationals made two roster moves on Sunday. They optioned 1B Larry Broadway to Triple-A Columbus and then reassigned 1B/OF Dmitri Young from their minor league accelerated camp to the major league camp. Broadway went 7-for-21 (.333) this spring, but six of his hits went for singles. The team cited the 26-year-old's lack of power is the reason why he was sent down. Young will now compete with Travis Lee for the starting first base job, while starting 1B Nick Johnson recovers from a leg injury to open the season. (Updated 03/18/2007) |

| Fantasy Analysis |
| Young was signed to a contract in February, provided that he could get into game shape. The veteran played his first exhibition game on Thursday against the Dodgers and went 2-for-3 with a home run off right-hander Jason Schmidt. Following the game, Young returned to minor league camp for two more intrasqaud games before getting the promotion on Sunday. Lee has also been hitting the ball well this spring, so it should be a competition that goes down until the wire. If Young wins out, he is merely a low-end stopgap option in NL-only leagues. Broadway is now just a long-term keeper as the team will keep him in the minors until they are satisified with his power stroke. He could be up at some point this season, so keep an eye out for his arrival. (Updated 03/18/2007). |
