| Charlie Morton among Braves' cuts: The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports that pitching prospect Charlie Morton and C/1B Tyler Flowers were among the Braves cuts on Wednesday. Also dropped were RHPs Zach Schreiber, Phil Stockman, Matt DeSalvo and Jairo Cuevas, shortstops Javier Guzman and Diory Hernandez, and catcher J.C. Boscan. (Updated 03/13/2008) |

| "I like Charlie Morton — he's going to be a good pitcher," Braves manager Bobby Cox. Morton gave up one earned run on five hits in three innings, with two walks and one strikeout, in two spring relief appearances. He was sent to Triple-A Richmond, where he'll start in their rotation. Morton could help later this season, whether it's in the bullpen or in the rotation, so consider him in larger NL-only keeper leagues. Flowers is a nice power prospect in keeper leagues. Schreiber and Stockman went to Triple-A Richmond, Cuevas went to Double-A Mississipi, and the others were reassigned to the Braves' minor-league camp. These players aren't worth picking up in Fantasy play at this time. (Updated 03/13/2008). |
