5 Ian Kinsler, 2B

The Rangers announced that Ian Kinsler has been placed on the 15-day disabled list Sunday due to an intercostal strain, FOXSports.com reports. The Rangers recalled Jurickson Profar as the corresponding roster move. 

Kinsler was missing time and the Rangers thought it best to place him on the DL rather than let the injury linger. Kinsler last played May 17 against the Tigers and is batting .302 on the year with seven homers and 20 RBI. 

The Rangers will evaluate the status of second baseman Ian Kinsler Sunday, ESPN reports. Texas must decide whether or not to place him on the disabled list due to his bruised ribs. 

Kinsler is missing time and the Rangers summoned top prospect Jurickson Profar in case the infielder is needed to fill in for the veteran Kinsler. Profar will officially be recalled if Kinsler lands on the disabled list.

Hitting .302/.369/.500 with seven home runs and three stolen bases, Kinsler can be considered day-to-day.

For just the second time in 37 games, Rangers second baseman Ian Kinsler was left out of the starting lineup Sunday against the Astros. Leury Garcia drew his second start at second base.

Kinsler has been hitting well the last few weeks, batting .368 (25 for 68) in his last 15 games, sending his batting average from .282 to .322. Kinsler is also slugging .603 with two home runs, seven RBI and 10 doubles in that span.
