Mariners' Nelson Cruz: Hits two homers in losing effort
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Cruz went 2-for-4 with two solo blasts in Thursday's loss to the Tigers.

Cruz's second home run of the game, his 18th of the season, tied the game at four in the sixth inning, but the Mariners fell short in extras. The ageless wonder, now in his 12th MLB season, is on pace to launch 40 bombs, notch 100-plus RBI and score nearly 100 runs. Last year's Silver Slugger winner ranks sixth in the AL for home runs, and ninth in RBI.

Mariners' Nelson Cruz: Out of lineup Wednesday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Cruz is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Tigers, Ryan Divish of the Seattle Times reports.

Cruz gets the day off after falling into a bit of a slump over the last week in which he's gone 4-for-30 with one home run and 13 strikeouts. Seth Smith will take over in right field for Cruz with the Mariners facing Michael Fulmer and the Tigers.

Mariners' Nelson Cruz: Hitless in loss Tuesday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Cruz went 0-for-4 Tuesday in a 4-2 loss on the road against Detroit.

Despite the hitless night, Cruz has been a productive cleanup hitter for Seattle this season, hitting 16 homers and driving in 46 runs. He'll look to bounce back against rookie right-hander Michael Fulmer on Wednesday.

Mariners' Nelson Cruz: Has three-true-outcomes evening
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Cruz went 1-for-4 with a two-run homer, two walks and three strikeouts against the Rays on Wednesday.

That's the embodiment of the three true outcomes right there. Cruz generally doesn't whiff at an extreme pace, but he's struck out in 10 consecutive games now. Still, he's remained productive in that span and is still a .300 hitter with 16 homers for the season, which ought to smother any complaints.

Mariners' Nelson Cruz: Homers twice in win over Cleveland
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Cruz homered twice, scored twice and knocked in three runs in a 2-for-3 game with a walk in Tuesday's win over Cleveland.

Cruz is on fire in June, with five home runs in just seven games to open the month. He has bumped his slugging percentage up from an already robust .505 to .555 in the process, and with 15 home runs, he's now on pace to mash 42 this season. Cruz is showing why slightly slow starts from sluggers shouldn't be too concerning -- home runs come in bunches, and slow starts can be erased in a hurry by guys with the massive raw power Cruz has consistently shown.
