Mariners' Nelson Cruz: Continues strong month Saturday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Cruz went 2-for-4 with a double and a run in Saturday's 5-2 loss to the Astros.

The slugging outfielder was the only Mariners player to log multiple hits Saturday, as Lance McCullers and a cadre of Astros relievers largely stymied the Seattle offense. Despite a quiet month in the long-ball department, Cruz is enjoying his best stretch of the season at the plate, having amassed 10 multi-hit efforts this June as part of a .333/.420/.520 line. The surge has served to raise his season average 18 points to .295 since June 2, and he continues to dominate the team's offensive leaderboard with high-water marks in batting average, home runs (14), RBI (58), OBP (.379) and hits (76).

Mariners' Nelson Cruz: Plates three more Wednesday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Cruz went 2-for-4 with three RBI from a two-run double and a run-scoring single in Wednesday's 7-5 win over the Tigers.

The slugging outfielder's June tear continues, as Cruz now has nine multi-hit outings and extra-base hits during the month as part of an impressive .344/.427/.547 line. The 36-year-old also has possession of the AL lead in RBI and ranks fourth overall in the majors behind the prolific trio of Jake Lamb, Paul Goldschmidt and Nolan Arenado.

Mariners' Nelson Cruz: On base four times Tuesday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Cruz went 2-for-3 with a two-run double and two walks in Tuesday's 5-4 extra-inning win over the Tigers.

Cruz now has nine RBI over his last nine contests, despite the fact that he hasn't hit a home run since June 4. The veteran slugger currently casts an impressive shadow over the Mariners' offensive leaderboard, with his average (.292), homers (14), RBI (55), OBP (.377) and hits (71) all serving as high-water marks on the team, and his slugging (.523) and OPS (.899) checking in second and third, respectively.

Mariners' Nelson Cruz: Plates four in Monday blowout
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Cruz went 2-for-3 with four RBI from a sacrifice fly, a two-run single and a run-scoring double in Monday's 14-3 win over the Twins. He also walked and scored twice.

The veteran slugger's accomplishments were somewhat overshadowed by those of teammate Mitch Haniger, but Cruz had a momentous night in his own right. It was an extension of what has been an outstanding month for the 36-year-old, who's now hitting .464 with four doubles, two home runs, eight RBI, five walks and nine runs in his first nine games of June. Monday's effort also pushed Cruz's average over .300 for the first time since May 21, and he's now reached safely in eight straight contests.

Mariners' Nelson Cruz: Returns to lineup Friday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Cruz (calf) is in the lineup for Friday's series opener against the Blue Jays, Shannon Drayer of MyNorthwest.com reports.

Cruz is back in his normal spot as designated hitter and placed in the four spot behind Robinson Cano as the Mariners face right-hander Joe Biagini. The 36-year-old missed two straight games as a result of calf tightness, but should have no restrictions moving forward.
