| Howell in mix for saves?: The Tampa Tribune reports that Joel Peralta, Fernando Rodney and J.P. Howell are expected to get save opportunities while Kyle Farnsworth begins the season recovering from an elbow injury. Howell recorded 17 saves in 2009 and has 21 career saves. (Updated 04/04/2012) |

| Fantasy Analysis |
| Don't forget about Howell in the closer's mix. It's true he struggled when he came back from shoulder surgery last year. However, he has looked much better this spring. He has struck out 12 in nine innings, while posting a 1.00 WHIP and .182 opponents' batting average. He's the only left-hander out of the trio of potential closers, so he might get into games during save situations based on matchups. Still, who knows if Howell will see regular save chances, so he still has low-end Fantasy appeal in deep formats. He definitely could help Rotisserie owners if he maintains a low ERA and WHIP, while posting a high strikeout rate like he did this spring. (Updated 04/04/2012). |
