Red Sox 2B Dustin Pedroia blasts two home runs on Wednesday
by Jason Lempert | Staff Writer

Red Sox second baseman Dustin Pedroia did his best to get his team a win, but it was not enough as the Twins won 6-4, completing the three-game sweep.

Pedroia belted two, two-run home runs off starter Phil Hughes, giving him seven longballs on the season. The home runs were his only hits on the afternoon, as he extended his current hitting streak to seven games.

"Pedey today is the one boost for us, [the guy] who comes up every day, shows up ready to compete," manager John Farrell said, per MLB.com.

During the streak, Pedroia's batting average has risen from .270 to its current .290 clip.

Red Sox's John Farrell shuffles lineup before facing Angels
by Ruben Palacios | Staff Writer

Red Sox manager John Farrell wanted to shake things up against the Angels, he did just that prior to Saturday's game, per The Boston Herald.

Farrell slotted second baseman Dustin Pedroia into the leadoff spot, inserted his Triple-A call up Rusney Castillo to play centerfield and dropped David Ortiz to the cleanup spot.

Hanley Ramirez, who was nursing his left hand after being hit by a pitch on Friday, is also back in the lineup. Shane Victorino will hit second in the lineup after missing two games with a sore calf.

The Sox (19-23) are currently in fourth place in the American League East Division.

Dustin Pedroia, Hanley Ramirez searching for answers at the plate
by Brandon Wise | CBSSports.com

Red Sox second baseman Dustin Pedroia and left fielder Hanley Ramirez are looking for a spark on offense after another week of struggling at the plate, according to MLB.com.

Pedroia has seen his average drop 23 points from .292 to .269 since the beginning of May, with just two extra-base hits.

"A little bit [surprising], but we will [hit]," said Pedroia. "You can't get frustrated. We had some good at-bats. We hit the ball hard. We just didn't get any hits. Didn't put it all together that one inning. The guy made a great play on me. If that gets through, it's a hit. Then we've got something going. We just haven't found a way to get that big hit and extend innings, but it's going to come."

Ramirez is down to .216 with no home runs since running into the left field wall in Boston trying to make a catch.

"I mean, we haven't had back-to-back games where we just go, and get going," said Ramirez. "The whole lineup. That's what we need. All the way from the top, all the way to the bottom. It is what it is. We haven't done that and we have to start doing it. Our pitching staff is doing pretty good right now and that's baseball. We just have to try to understand ways to stay patient. Keep the things going at the same time -- offense and defense."
