Mariners' Chris Iannetta: Will be team's primary catcher
by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com

Iannetta joined the Mariners on Monday as the team's primary catcher heading into spring training, Bob Dutton of the News Tribune reports.

Originally it was expected that Iannetta would be battling with Mike Zunino as the Mariners' primary catcher but general manager Mike Dipoto says Iannetta will be used as the team's primary catcher. Dipoto and Ianetta were together in Los Angeles which explains why he appears higher on him heading into 2016.

Mariners' Chris Iannetta: Signs with Mariners on Monday
by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com

Iannetta signed a one-year deal with the Mariners on Monday.

The signing of Iannetta will put him alongside Jesus Sucre as the Mariners' two primary catchers going into the 2016 season. The move also brought Seattle to outright Josh Hicks to make room for Iannetta on the 40-man roster.

Angels hold catcher Chris Iannetta out of Wednesday's lineup
by Rotowire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com

Angels catcher Chris Iannetta is out of the lineup Wednesday. While Iannetta provides good pop for a catcher, with 10 home runs and 33 RBI, his .187 batting average makes it tough for him to play on a consistent basis.

Over the past week, he's 4 for 13 with four runs scored, two home runs and three RBI. In spite of that, he's replaced by Carlos Perez in the starting lineup.

Angels C Chris Iannetta homers among two hits in win Thursday
by CBSSports.com Staff | CBSSports.com

Angels catcher Chris Iannetta went 2 for 5 with a two-run homer and a pair of runs against the Twins on Thursday.

The veteran catcher has nine homers in 86 games for the Angels this year, which is well and good, but not in conjunction with that hideous .185 batting average. His playing time has been inconsistent, with Carlos Perez dominating the starts, so Iannetta has precious little fantasy value even if his resurgence continues.

Scuffling Angels C Chris Iannetta benched for next few days
by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com

Mike Scioscia has claimed that Angels catcher Chris Iannetta is getting a "breather." Others might look at his numbers and call it a benching.

Iannetta is set to sit for the next three games, per MLB.com. He has been slumping most of the season, including a recent 3-for-40 slide that has lowered his batting average to .182, its lowest point since June 30.
