Rockies' Ryan Hanigan: Seizes backup catching duties
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Hanigan is 8-for-29 (.276) with one home run and six RBI in eight games for the Rockies this season.

After injuries to both Tony Wolters and Tom Murphy (forearm) forced him into MLB action, Hanigan came out of the gate hot to make his case to remain on the big-league roster. It ultimately worked, and although he's slowed down at the plate a bit, he still has a firm foothold on the backup catching duties. Murphy is still a few weeks away from rejoining the Rockies, so it seems like Hanigan will be in Denver for the foreseeable future, albeit in a reserve role.

Rockies' Ryan Hanigan: Contract purchased from Triple-A
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Hanigan had his contract purchased from Triple-A Albuquerque on Wednesday.

With Tony Wolters headed to the DL with a concussion, Hanigan was added to the 25-man roster to serve as the Rockies' second catcher. Hanigan has held his own at Triple-A so far this season, slashing .282/.360/.359 across 39 at-bats (13 games). He'll primarily serve as backup to Dustin Garneau for the time being, though he'll likely be headed back to Triple-A once Wolters is ready to be activated.

Rockies' Ryan Hanigan: Could join big-league squad
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Hanigan seems like a logical option to fill in for the injured Tony Wolters (concussion), Nick Groke of The Denver Post reports.

Dustin Garneau is currently the only healthy catcher on the Rockies' 40-man roster, although Colorado does have a spot on the 40-man to add Hanigan after it designated Christhian Adames for assignment Sunday. Hanigan has been playing well during his time in the minors this season, batting .282 with three doubles in 39 at-bats, so he could be a serviceable option if he does ultimately get called up.

Rockies' Ryan Hanigan: Joins Rockies as minor leaguer
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Hanigan agreed to a minor league deal with the Rockies on Tuesday, Jon Heyman of FanRag Sports reports.

Hanigan was released by the Phillies on Monday after the team decided to deploy prospect Andrew Knapp as their backup catcher. The 36-year-old will likely open the season with Triple-A Albuquerque and serve as organizational depth for the Rockies.

Ryan Hanigan: Released by Philadelphia
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Hanigan was released by the Phillies on Monday, Todd Zolecki of MLB.com reports.

Hanigan's dismissal means that the Phillies will go with prospect Andrew Knapp as their main backup at catcher behind Cameron Rupp. The 36-year-old veteran has been renowned throughout his career for his receiving skills, so it's possible another team could have interest bringing him aboard as a No. 2 catcher.
