Brocail says he is pain free now: From The Sports Xchange: RHP Doug Brocail, on the DL with a torn left hamstring, threw a bullpen session in front of pitching coach Dewey Robinson for the first time since landing on the DL on May 4. "This is just the first time we've seen him off the mound," Robinson said. "Just from my end of it he looked good. He only threw about 25 fastballs, but the ball's coming out of his hand good." Brocail threw four bullpen sessions while the club was on the seven-game trip that ended Sunday, but he had not thrown a bullpen session in front of the coaches. "This will be the fifth, but it's the first one they've seen," he said. "I'm pain free."

The Houston Chronicle reported that Brocail, who is on the disabled list with a torn left hamstring, might not return until mid-June if at all. (Updated 07/04/2009)

Advice

Brocail left May 3 against Atlanta on a cart after hurting himself taking a throw at first base. It's the second trip to the DL this season for Brocail, who is 1-0 with a 4.76 ERA in seven games. He was on the disabled list from April 11-25 with a right rotator cuff strain.
