    Fantasy Analysis
Damon can still provide some help with extra-base hits and stolen bases, but his on-base percentage took a serious hit last season with the Rays. Damon is not likely to play the field much this season, if at all, and the lack of a position hurts his value in Fantasy. Owners should look to Damon merely as a late-round option in mixed leagues.

  • October 4, 2011: Late innings a worry as sluggish bullpen could sink Phils' season
Ben Francisco's improbably three-run homer in Game 3 may make him a hero in Philly for years to come. But Danny Knobler says for now, late innings worry the Phillies as their bullpen could end their season.
September 24, 2011: Damon clutch late vs. Jays as Rays chase WC bid
The Tampa Bay Rays moved closer to Boston in the AL wild-card race, getting a clutch three-run homer from Johnny Damon in a 6-2 victory over the Toronto Blue Jays on Saturday night.
September 24, 2011: Cardinals beat Cubs, wild-card hopes still alive
The Cardinals kept their faint wild-card hopes alive when Carlos Marmol forced home the tying run with a bases-loaded walk to Ryan Theriot with two outs in the ninth inning and followed with a game-ending wild pitch, giving St. Louis a 2-1 victory over the Chicago Cubs on Saturday.
September 23, 2011: Rays' playoff hopes take hit with loss to Blue Jays
Brandon Morrow pitched seven scoreless innings and the Toronto Blue Jays further dampened Tampa Bay's playoff hopes, beating the Rays 5-1 Friday night.
September 22, 2011: Rays rip Yankees, move within two games of BoSox
Matt Moore struck out 11 in five innings of his first major-league start and the Tampa Bay Rays unloaded on the watered-down Yankees for a 15-8 victory, a night after New York clinched the AL East title.
