Walks prove costly for Moehler: Astros SP Brian Moehler lasted just a little too long during Tuesday's 6-3 loss to the Pirates. Moehler entered the seventh in a 2-all tie and opened the inning by retiring Adam A. LaRoche on a grounder. He then walked the next two hitters before being replaced by Tim Byrdak. Both of Moehler's runners scored as Pittsburgh put up a four-spot in the seventh. Moehler was charged with three hits and four runs (three earned) in 6 1/3 innings. He walked two and struck out four. He also allowed a homer to Jack Wilson in the third but retired the next 11 batters before the walks in the seventh.

Fantasy Analysis

Moehler had won his last three decisions coming into Tuesday and still hasn't allowed more than three earned runs in five straight starts. He finally seems settled on the mound after a rough start to the season. Still, Moehler is too ineffective on the mound to rely on outside of NL-only formats. His next scheduled start is for Sunday against the Nationals.
