  • Pettitte gets 'the cobwebs out': For the first time in 573 days, Yankees starting pitcher Andy Pettitte was back on a major-league mound Sunday. And the 39-year-old lefty was surprised by the emotions that overwhelmed him during his loss to Seattle. "'I just cannot believe how comfortable this is for me," Pettitte said. "I don't know how to explain it." In his first game since Oct. 18, 2010, Pettitte allowed four runs and seven hits, including a pair of homers, in 6 1/3 innings during New York's 6-2 loss. He sat out last season before deciding in mid-March to make a comeback. "He got the cobwebs out," catcher Russell Martin said. "And now we see what happens next."

    Fantasy Analysis
Pettitte's velocity remained the same as before he retired and his fastball averaged 88 mph. But Pettitte still has some work to do as he grew fatigued while the game progressed. After carrying a no-hitter through three innings, Pettitte threw 59 of his 93 pitches over the last three-plus innings. "There is not a question in my mind how this is all going to play out for me," Pettitte said. "It's not about this one start. I'll measure if this was a successful return or not at the end of October." Fantasy owners should view Pettitte as a low-end option for his next scheduled start Friday against Cincinnati.
