Sheffield won't play outfield again: The Mets' Gary Sheffield probably won't play the outfield again this season because of his balky back, manager Jerry Manuel said Tuesday. Sheffield walked as a pinch-hitter in the ninth inning that night against the Braves. He has been limited to three pinch-hitting appearances since Aug. 28.
