Mets release RHP Reyes Thursday: Right-hander Al Reyes was released by the New York Mets on Thursday without having thrown a pitch for their struggling bullpen. Reyes began the season with the Tampa Bay Rays, but they designated him for assignment in August. He agreed to a minor league contract with the Mets, who sent him to Double-A Binghamton and called him up to the majors when rosters expanded this month.

The 38-year-old reliever did not make an appearance for the Mets, who have had plenty of problems with their bullpen. They used seven relievers to get the last 12 outs of Wednesday's 9-7 victory over the Washington Nationals. Reyes was on the disabled list twice with shoulder injuries this season, and went 2-2 with a 4.37 ERA in 26 games with the Rays. Reyes has no Fantasy value at this time.
