Best Division Series Moments
2001 -- The Flip
With Jeremy Giambi on first base and two out in the 7th inning of Game 3 and the Yankees barely holding onto a 1-0 lead, Terrence Long lined a double into the right-field corner. While the slow-footed Giambi ran toward home, Shane Spencer overthrew the cutoff man. Out of nowhere came Derek Jeter, who raced across the diamond, grabbed the ball halfway up the first-base line and made a sidearm flip from foul territory to Jorge Posada, who scraped the back of Giambi's leg with a tag.

1999 -- Pedro, The Master
Having blown a two-game lead, the Cleveland Indians jumped all over Boston early in Game 5. Pedro Martinez was summoned in relief in the fourth inning and shut the Indians down. He threw 6 innings, collecting 8 strikeouts and didn't surrender a hit as the Red Sox advanced to the American League Championship Series.

1996 -- Alomar has Mesa's Number
After singling in the 9th inning off of Cleveland Indians closer Jose Mesa to tie the game, Baltimore Orioles second baseman Roberto Alomar faced Mesa again in the 12th. Alomar responded by blasting a home run off of Mesa and vaulted Baltimore into the American League Championship Series against the New York Yankees.

1995 -- Extra Inning Drama
In the 11th inning of this battle between the Boston Red Sox and the Cleveland Indians, Boston's Tim Naerhing homered to give the Sox a 4-3 lead, but Cleveland's Albert Belle countered with the tying blast in the bottom of the inning. The game moved on to the 12th and ended on a home run by Cleveland catcher (and former Boston player) Tony Pena.

1995 -- The Mad Dash
The Yankees-Mariners 1995 Division Series games were decided in another extra-inning bout. With New York scoring the go-ahead run in the top of the 11th, manager Buck Showalter called on starter Jack McDowell to close out the series. McDowell failed to record an out, as Seattle slugger Edgar Martinez laced a two-run double down the left-field line, scoring a sprinting Ken Griffey Jr. from first base, and clinching the Division series win for Seattle.
