Brewers' Hardy leaves game with tightness in back

MILWAUKEE -- Milwaukee Brewers shortstop J.J. Hardy left Wednesday's game against the San Francisco Giants because of tightness in his lower back.

Hardy doubled down the right-field line to open the bottom of the third and appeared to run gingerly as he approached second base. He did not run at full speed while scoring easily on Ryan Braun's triple.

He was replaced to start the fourth inning by Craig Counsell.

Hardy returned to the starting lineup Wednesday after being scratched from Tuesday night's lineup with a sore left hip.

In 68 games, Hardy is batting .285 with 17 home runs and 49 RBI.
