Pirates hire Corrigan as special assistant to new GM

PITTSBURGH -- Larry Corrigan, formerly an assistant to Minnesota Twins general manager Terry Ryan, was hired Monday by the Pittsburgh Pirates as a special assistant to new general manager Neal Huntington.

Corrigan spent 20 years in the Twins' baseball operations department, serving as a special assistant to Ryan since 1997.

Huntington said Corrigan has a strong background in talent evaluation and player development. He was the Twins' director of scouting in 1992 and 1993.

Corrigan formerly played in the Dodgers and Twins farm systems and coached at Iowa State and Cal State-Fullerton.
