Reds activate '07 starting catcher Ross; Hopper to DL
CINCINNATI -- The Cincinnati Reds on Wednesday activated catcher David Ross and put outfielder Norris Hopper on the disabled list.
Ross, the Reds' No. 1 catcher the last two seasons, had been on the DL all season with back spasms. He played in 13 minor-league games.
Paul Bako has done most of the catching this season and is hitting .321. Backup Javier Valentin has been used mainly as a pinch-hitter.
Hopper, who has inflammation in his right elbow, was put on the 15-day disabled list retroactive to Saturday.
