Tigers to get AL batting champ Ordonez back after break

DETROIT -- Detroit Tigers right fielder Magglio Ordonez is scheduled to be activated from the disabled list before Thursday's game at Baltimore.

Ordonez has been out since June 29 with a pulled oblique.

Outfielder Clete Thomas is being sent to Triple-A Toledo to clear a roster spot for Ordonez.

After hitting .363 last season, Ordonez is batting .307 with 12 homers and 50 RBI for the Tigers. He was 1-for-4 with a run scored at Class-A West Michigan on Monday night.

Thomas hit .284 with one homer, nine doubles and nine RBI in 40 games with the Tigers.
