Chicago is expected to activate Jenks from the 15-day disabled list Friday when it begins the second half. The AL Central leaders host Kansas City.
Jenks has been on the DL with bursitis near his left (non-pitching) shoulder. The move was made July 9, retroactive to June 30.
Jenks, who has 18 saves this season, made two minor league rehab appearances during the All-Star break.
Carrasco's contract was purchased from Charlotte when Jenks was hurt. The right-handed Carrasco made one appearance for the White Sox, allowing one run and four hits in 5 1/3 innings July 11 at Texas. It was the longest outing for a White Sox reliever since 1999.
The White Sox also announced they had sent right-hander Esteban Loaiza to Double-A Birmingham on an injury rehabilitation assignment. Loaiza has been on the 15-day disabled list since June 13 with a sore right shoulder.
Loaiza made three relief appearances for the White Sox this season and made five starts for Charlotte on a rehab assignment.
