PHILADELPHIA -- The New York Mets placed catcher Ramon Castro on the 15-day disabled list because of a quadriceps injury and made four other moves Wednesday.

The Mets also optioned infielder Argenis Reyes to New Orleans and called up pitcher Nelson Figueroa and catcher Robinson Cancel from the Triple-A team.

Castro, who splits time with Brian Schneider, was injured while running to first base in the fifth inning Tuesday night in an 8-7 loss to the Phillies. He's batting .242 with seven homers and 24 RBI in 43 games.

Reyes hit .250 in 38 games for the Mets.

Figueroa was 4-7 with a 4.43 ERA in 20 games, including 16 starts, at Triple-A. The 34-year-old right-hander likely will replace the injured John Maine in the starting rotation. Figueroa was 2-3 with a 5.12 ERA in nine games (six starts) with the Mets earlier this season.

Cancel hit .233 (7-for-30) with one home run and four RBI in 17 games in three prior stints with New York.

In another move, left-hander pitcher Ricardo Rincon was returned to the Mets on loan from the Mexico City Reds of the Mexican League. Rincon was assigned to New Orleans. The Mets loaned Rincon to Mexico City on April 2. He was 0-2 with two saves and a 3.82 ERA in 42 games with Mexico City.
