Royals will raise ticket prices for 2009 season

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- The Kansas City Royals are raising prices on most of their tickets for 2009.

The Royals announced 2009 prices on Friday, adding new seating after renovations at Kauffman Stadium and increasing other ticket prices. Some of the cheapest seats will see no changes.

Nearly 60 percent of the tickets were raised by a dollar or less.

The average price for single-game tickets increases from $22.91 (excluding premium games) to $24.84 next year. Season-ticket holders will pay $19.17 per seat per game, up from $17.60 in 2008.

The average price for a Major League Baseball season ticket this season was $25.43.

Kevin Uhlich, Royals vice president of business operations, says the team considers the increases "fair and balanced" in light of current economic conditions.
