Tampa Bay Rays get cold feet in Philly

Oct. 27--The Big Event: World Series Mother Nature must not be a baseball fan.

Check that, Mother Nature must not be a Rays fan.

Maybe playing in a dome has made them soft, but the Tampa Bay Rays have had their struggles in cold weather. According to Elias Sports Bureau, the Rays went 0-5 this season when temperatures dropped below 50 degrees.

They were outscored 34-10 in those five losses to the New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox.

And with temperatures expecting to dip into the 40s and 30s again tonight, the city of Brotherly Love is not looking so friendly.

Thus, the Rays have to win tonight to get back to the warmer environment of St. Petersburg.

TuesdayForgotten? HOCKEY: With all the attention paid toward the Rays and the Buccaneers, the Lightning must feel like the odd man out -- especially considering they are seven games into the season and only have one win. Can they get No. 2 Tuesday against the Maple Leafs in Toronto? TOGA! DVD: Over! Nothing is over when it comes to re-releasing movies on DVD. Case in point, Universal releasing the 30th Anniversary Gift Edition of National Lampoon's Animal House, the John Landis-Harold Ramis movie that made John Belushi (below) even more mainstream. So if you're up for a road trip, pick it up on Tuesday.

WednesdayWorst-to-? PRO BASKETBALL: Two of the worst teams in the NBA last season -- the Miami Heat and the New York Knicks -- meet up at Madison Square Garden to open the 2008-09 season. Miami's Dwyane Wade is averaging 25.2 points per game against the Knickerbockers in his career.

Home sweet home

PRO BASKETBALL: The Magic open the 2008-09 campaign playing six of their first seven games at Amway Arena, including Wednesday night against the Atlanta Hawks.

COLLEGE FOOTBALL: Cincinnati is in the middle of a tough stretch. The Bearcats lost to Connecticut last week and now must face South Florida this week, followed by West Virginia, Louisville, and Pittsburgh -- who have a combined 21-8 record.
